External Educational Programs

A. TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

Eligibility: Managers, non-represented operating employees, certain represented supervisors (SSSA, TSBA, QSA, TSO members only),
certain represented employees (OSA & UFLEO members only) non-represented career and salary employees, and confidential employees are currently eligible
• Limited: program now capped at $4,000 within any 12-month period
• Job-related undergraduate and graduate programs at any accredited college or university<

B. TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (JOHN JAY)

Eligibility: All employees
• Undergraduate credit courses in transportation management
• Selection of employees based on departmental priority
• Training pays the tuition-employees pay activity fee only
• Certificate awarded upon completion of six courses (18 credits)

C. NYACK COLLEGE ADULT DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM

Eligibility: All employees with a minimum of 60 credits
• Classes held at Livingston Plaza-one night per week
• Complete a B.S. in Organization Management in 14 months
• Grant of $2,000 if you attend at Livingston Plaza

D. GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM IN TRANSPORTATION

Eligibility: All employees with Bachelor’s degrees
• Participating schools: Polytechnic, CCNY and SUNY Maritime
• Fellowships are $450 per 3-credit course at any of the three schools
• Polytechnic gives a 50% discount

E. MAYOR’S GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Eligibility: All employees with Bachelor’s degrees
• Participating colleges/universities provide funding
• Separate scholarship application for each school
• Requires signature of president or his designee

F. ADVANCED INSTITUTE FOR TRANSPORTATION EDUCATION (AITE)

Eligibility: All employees with Bachelor’s degrees
• In most cases, FULL scholarships for the Master’s degree in transportation management or engineering
• Participating schools in Federal Region II, including: Polytechnic, CCNY, Rutgers, NJIT, etc.
• Requires approval for ten hours paid released time per week for the duration of the degree program (two years)

G. DOWLING COLLEGE - MBA

Eligibility: All employees with Bachelor’s degrees
• Tuition reduction of 30%
• Classes held at Livingston Plaza
• GMAT requirement waived for Transit employees

H. EMPIRE STATE COLLEGE

Eligibility: All NYC Transit employees
• Every student/employees has a mentor
• Credit given for life learning
• Bachelor’s degree awarded at completion of requirements
• Classes offered at Livingston Plaza

Eligibility: All employees with Bachelor’s degrees
• 16 Months for completion
• Sometime classes are offered at Livingston Plaza
• GMAT waivers and special scholarships available for Transit employees

Eligibility: All NYC Transit employees
• Three hour workshops offered one night a week for 4 weeks
• Certificate in Transit Management after completing 4 workshops
• Each workshop costs $500/4 workshops are discounted at $1800
• Classes are offered at Livingston Plaza

K. LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY

Eligibility: All employees with Bachelor’s degrees
• One-third tuition discount
• Classes held at LIU or Livingston Plaza
• Or video conferencing network
